Government paper sets the course for German steel industry

Paderborn/Salzburg, July 22, 2020. We welcome the German government's steel action plan (‘Handlungskonzept Stahl’) – it underlines the importance of the German steel industry as a key industry. And it paves the way for a long-term internationally competitive industry in Germany and a change towards lower CO2 emission. With our electric steel mill in Lingen we are already contributing to sustainability: The direct CO2 emissions of our steel production there are 95% lower than those of the production by a blast furnace route. In addition, we process only steel scrap in Lingen. With this recycled steel we produce our seamless pipes in Germany. This is how we contribute to the recycling economy.
